Bible Question:
Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. What do you believe that this refers to ? |
Bible Answer: Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Rom 9:25 As He says also in Hosea, "I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, 'MY PEOPLE,' AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, 'BELOVED.'" Rom 9:26 "AND IT SHALL BE THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID TO THEM, 'YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE,' THERE THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF THE LIVING GOD." Rom 9:27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED; Rom 9:28 FOR THE LORD WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, THOROUGHLY AND QUICKLY." Take a few minutes to read Romans 9-11. The passage you are asking about refers to Jesus' discussion about the "end of the age." We have seen the national of Israel destroyed (an re-established in 1948, a fulfillment of prophecy!)and Jerusalem has been trodden by the Gentiles (a Gentile is a non-Jew)from the Romans to the Palestinains! We are living in the Age of Grace, where everyone has an opportunity to come to a knowledge of Jesus as their Savior. This is commonly called the "times of the Gentiles" when God draws all people, not just His chosen people - Israel. The "times of the Gentiles" will conclude with the Second Coming of the Lord. As you read through Luke 21 et al, we can understand through history as well as current events that the "time of the Gentiles" is perhaps very quickly drawing to a close! Maranantha! |
