Bible Question: What would the significance of the birth in a stable be? |
Bible Answer: Hello SRN...There may be no significance beyond the historical fact. If you will permit me to offer an opinion....As you probably know, not everything in the Bible has to have a secret meaning, just waiting to be uncovered after 2000 years. There are no codes, no numerologies, no Gnostic secrets. Except in those secrets that we discover about ourselves, the Bible speaks plainly in large measure. We do not know for sure, from any source, where Jesus was born; stable or cave? The Bible says "manger" in the verses you gave. Our traditions have placed the birth in a stable....But not the facts! If we were certain, well then you might have a good question. I know people who have slept in their cars and trucks because the Inn was full. Holiday Inn of course.:) Sometimes a stable is just a stable. God Bless....Jensen |
