Bible Question:
CAN SOMEONE ANSWER MY QUESTION NO. 44 WAS JOSEPHMARY RICH. if poor, where is scripture? How did they live in Eqypt and Nazareth? (Scripture pls. Carpentry was new inventory. Should've been rich |
Bible Answer: IN LUKE IT IS WRITTEN: Luke 2:22-24 (New International Version) 22When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"[a]), 24and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."[b] SO, MARY AND JOSEPH BROUGHT THE CHILD TO THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD, AS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE BY THE LAW OF THE LORD. BUT NOTICE THAT THEY DID NOT BRING A LAMB, THEY BROUGHT PIGEONS OR DOVES. NOW LET US LOOK AT THE ACTUAL LAW IN LEVITICUS. THE WORD OF THE LORD GOD SAYS: Leviticus 12:7-8 (New International Version) 7 He shall offer them before the LORD to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood. " 'These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. 8 If she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.' " NOTICE THE BEGINNING OF THE EIGTH VERSE: "if she cannot afford a lamb." THIS MEANS THAT MARY WAS INDEED POOR. NOW WHAT ABOUT JOSEPH? HE WAS OF COURSE A CARPENTER, BUT WOULD HE HAVE NOT GIVEN THE MONEY FOR MARY? PRESUMABLY, HIS BUSINESS WAS NOT GOING TO WELL, FOR WHATEVER REASON. THEY WERE NOT RICH!! MAY THE GRACE OF THE LORD BE WITH YOU!! |
