Bible Question: Where is the "sinners prayer" in the Bible? Since we know that the Holy Spirit is our mediator and speaks to God on our behalf how can a sinner which is seperated from God and dosen't have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit communicate with God on his own behalf and in his own way? |
Bible Answer: Hello Christian Tim, You ask, "Where is the "sinners prayer" in the Bible? Since we know that the Holy Spirit is our mediator and speaks to God on our behalf how can a sinner which is seperated from God and dosen't have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit communicate with God on his own behalf and in his own way?" Here is the sinner's prayer: Luke 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. Luke 18:11 "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. Luke 18:12 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' Luke 18:13 "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' Luke 18:14 "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." The answer from Reformed Theology perspective is that you are right. No one comes to Christ unless the Spirit of the Father draws him. (Jn 6:44) The sinner repents and calls on the Lord for salvation by the effectual working of The Spirit in his heart to generate repentance and faith to call on the Lord. For whoever calls on the Lord in faith shall be saved. But how shall they call... etc.,. (Rom 10:13ff) Peace, |
