AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 16:9 "And I tell you [learn from this], make friends for yourselves [for eternity] by means of the wealth of unrighteousness [that is, use material resources as a way to further the work of God], so that when it runs out, they will welcome you into the eternal dwellings. |
Bible Question: who's idea was money? i think it was the devil's, but maybe it was ours or even god's. thank you for your answer. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mrmeth0d! Luke 16:9 speaks of "unrighteous mammon." Jesus was not implying that money (mammon) is inherently evil, only that material wealth is temporal in nature and will not go with us into eternal life. It will "fail." Therefore, we should use our wealth wisely in this life. In fact, we should "make friends" with it- that is, use it in a way that brings others into the kingdom of Christ (Luke 16:8-9). All of our earthly goods ultimately come from God and belong to Him. Blessings to you, Makarios |
