Bible Question:
BradK, Are you saying the Paradise is the Heaven? If so, I'm confused. After resurrected, Jesus said, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’" (John 20:17). But he went to the Paradise right after his death until the resurrection. Then, it seems clear that the Paradise cannot be the Heaven where God our Father lives. 00123 |
Bible Answer: Is it not possible that Jesus needed to ascend to the Father after He was risen from the dead? I understand your point about Him not ascending yet, but that obviously means He hadn't ascended after either dying or rising. Because we know Jesus came from heaven so He would have been there before. Maybe He needed to raise from the dead before He could present Himself as "the Lamb". He must have had to conquer sin and death. Which after He died he hadn't conquered yet, until this moment in John 20:17. Now that He had conquered death and sin He can ascend. |
