Bible Question:
Luke 14:7-14 ... Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted. How should we conduct ourselves in every day applications of this message? Also, when giving a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind. Does this mean do not look for repayment because the Lord will reward us when we go to heaven? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Luke 14:1-23 is the context LTBStoday, welcome to the forum. The context begins in verse 1, where Jesus was a a banquet ... he heals a man (vv 2-6). People pushed their way up to be in the best seats ... but, the host had a seating arrangement for the best seats in mind (vv 7-11). For us, we should be willing to do the menial things and we COULD get called to do something better. But, we shouldn't do it so we are noticed (that is pride) and get get ahead later. His host invited those who could invite him in return (vv 12-13) ... and we need to invite those who could never repay in kind. I wonder if we were invited to the "home" of the homeless, if we would go (We have invited them to follow what he said). Where is your treasure? Then Jesus told of those invited gave excuses (vv 15-24) ... what excuse do we give? Hope this helps, Searcher |
