Bible Note: Greetings Searcher! Thanks for the response my friend! I don't see Rom. 7:14-25 as normative for the Christian life. It is my view that Paul is describing himself before he was a Christian. As a Pharisee, he could not do what he wanted, but as a Christian, he has been set free from the Law of sin and death. I do agree that there is probably an element of semantics involved. But, I also tend to think that we have often downplayed the power of Christ in our lives as well. Rom. 6 seems to me to say that while we can still sin, the power of sin has been broken and we no longer have to let it be our master. Well, I have to get some sleep before I go to work. I appreciate you and your contributions to the forum my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
