Bible Question: How should we Pray? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 6:5-15, Luke 11:1-4 ........ Prayer is between you and God. PERIOD. Others may listen, but we should never pray to "tickle their ears" or even preach to them. The prayers in Matthew and Luke should be our pattern. Notice the focus on Him; our position, including the pronouns and how little of the prayer is about our lists. I learned alot from John MacArthur. -Go to http://www.gty.org/resources.php -Select --Matthew 6 --Transcripts ... press Go Read each sermon. You may want to Google "Disciples Prayer" or "Pattern Prayer". Thanksgiving is important part of prayer (Phi 4:6, Col 4:2, 1Ti 2:1) ... read the context. So keep a journal of your requests and the answers (yes, no and wait), as well as things He has done for you w/o your asking. Searcher |
