Bible Question:
I am a person who is trying to find faith or answers to help me find a way. Yesterday a very outspoken (putting it nicely) religous, bible pushing type told me that I was beyond help and he told me that there is a passage in the bible which states "if a person cannot be helped then you must wipe your feet of there existance and walk away from them" Does this passage in fact exist and if not then how can someone just do that when a person truly wants to find something??? Hence the screenname Mystified |
Bible Answer: If you are truly seeking the truth then the "Wiping off of the feet" doesn't directly apply to you. That was done to when a person out -right rejected the message given. When the Jews in Corinth opposed and blasphemed,Paul simply shook his garment (Acts 18:6). It was a jesture that the truth was there, but opposed. As Jesus said "It will be used as a witness against them" in the DAY of JUDGEMENT! I am thankful for you seeking, but the fact remains: Jesus said, "He that is not with me is against me" (Matt 12:30). There is no middle ground, if you were to die today all the truth that you've heard till now, but refused will testify against you. That's why the bible says, "Today if you will hear his voice, harden not your heart (Hebrews 3:7,8). I do not believe that you are beyond help, because God never promised to help anyone. He promised to SAVE those who believe in Jesus Christ. But I will say this: "He that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is in Danger of eternal damnation (Mark 3:29). I believe that a person can reject so much truth that they will come to a point where they can no longer accept any truth. (Heb 6:4-6; 2 Peter 2:20,21; Luke 11:24-26) That the Unpardonable Sin. My prayer for you is to embrace the ministry of the Holy Spirit, as He reveals the truths concerning Christ, Sin, Salvation etc. As God Said at the beginning, "My Spirit shall not always strive with man."
