AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 1:3 it seemed fitting for me as well, [and so I have decided] after having carefully searched out and investigated all the events accurately, from the very beginning, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus; [Acts 1:1] |
Bible Question: In Mark 11:12-25 and Matthew 21:12-22 the story of the Fig tree is told. This is a great acted out parable by Christ, but one account very clearly shows that Christ cursed the tree after He cleansed the temple, and one before... obviously Scripture cannot contradict itself, so what is the explanation for these different timings? |
Bible Answer: Hi mm42883, The writers of the gospels are not necessarily keeping every event in chronological order. It seemed good to Luke to put everything in an "orderly account", NKJ, or "to write it out for you in consecutive order", NASB. I can assure you however that everything is written in the Scriptures exactly as God would have them. Do you see a connection between the fig tree and the cleansing of the temple? Do you have something you want to share about your question? From the heart, Ray |
