Bible Question:
Was John the Baptist a prophet? |
Bible Answer: Hello lutheraner, Yes, he was. He was actually the last OT prophet. Luke 1:13-17 foretells his birth. His father, Zechariah prophesied about him in Luke 1:76, "And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS" (NASB) John himself is recorded in scripture as saying, "I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,' as Isaiah the prophet said." I hope this helps, BradK |
