Subject: How can this be? |
Bible Note: Hi Brain Cell, Welcome to the forum. I write to you as one who is interested in capitalization.:)) I tell that to new people so that they know where I am coming from right away. I am interested in consistency in the Scriptures concerning the Man Jesus Christ especially, but am also interested in a better understanding of the Holy Spirit. For that reason I was interested in your upper and lower case use of the Holy Spirit. You will find that I have written that I believe that people are filled with the holy spirit [sic]. In all of the occasions in the Scriptures, I think of the gift of the filling in lower case holy spirit. I think of the Spirit as the Giver and the holy spirit as the gift. Here in Luke 1:41 I believe that Elizabeth was filled with the holy spirit. She was filled with power for witness, filled with words of praise for the Lord's word and for the mother of this Man who was to be born. I believe that I too, should be filled with the holy spirit. Ephesians 5:8. Your Romans 15:13 doxology and the marginal references led me to Isaiah 11. I go with the NKJ here but one should compare it with the NASB. Isaiah 11:1, "There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord." Isaiah 11:10, "And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His/ resting place shall be glorious." The NASB does not include "For the Gentiles shall seek Him". I think that the important thing for us to realize is that we should not resort to the "root" of Jesse but we should seek the Root and trust in Him. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13. From the heart, Ray P.S. I will let someone else answer the question in your post. I hope to hear more from you. |
