AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 9:43 "If your hand causes you to stumble and sin, cut it off [that is, remove yourself from the source of temptation]! It is better for you to enter life crippled, than to have two hands and go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, |
Bible Question:
I have heard and heard many evangelists said that if we do not seek God's salvation, we will forever burn in hell. My question is where in the scriptures said that or was the above statement man made. If its John 3:16, it mentioned perish but not burn in hell. |
Bible Answer: Matt 18:9 "If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell. These two verses are the only ones I could find in the NASB version of the Bible. There may be more but since there is somewhat of a variety of descriptions of hell, a person could argue all these descriptions are there to give us the idea it's a horrible place and indeed it is. I've heard it argued for example how can fire exist there since there will be no oxygen for it to consume but then God had the burning bush to burn and not consume that bush so what's the answer? I honestly don't know. I'm not sure anyone can give an authoritative answer from the Bible but it surely is a place I want to avoid. God bless. --Rowdy |
