Bible Question:
When Jesus uses the pronoun "You" in this verse, is he asking incredulously, like "What do you mean IF I can? Of course I can!" OR, could He possibly be correcting them ALSO by saying "If you (the seekers) can, you mean!" |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Mark 9:14-29 (23-25) ... terilynn, God's day to you. Always read the context. In verse 23, the father of the boy asks "if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!" Then Jesus parroted "'If You can?" in verse 24, then continued "All things are possible to him who believes." In versse 25, the father says, "I do believe; help my unbelief." I don't think He is doing either. I base this on the father's response ... that he believes, but still needs help. Searcher |
