Subject: Does Mark 7:19 contradict Acts 15:29? |
Bible Note: Hello MJH, I don't see a problem. God changed dietary commands before. Gen 9:3 (ESV) Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. While you appeal to context, you miss a very important point--the Lord is speaking to three different audiences in Matt 15 and Mark 7. At first he speaks to Pharisees and scribes. Then he speaks to a wider audience. Finally, he to his disciples alone. Getting the correct dialog with the correct audience is important with this passage. And besides all this, you completely ignore Acts 10:9-16 which reinforces the change in dietary law. Steve |
