Bible Answer: The Pharisees were one of the two largest and most influencial Jewish sects during the time of Jesus. They were not "in the church." The Pharisees represented religious views, practises, and hopes of the kernel of the Jewish people in the time of the Second Temple. They were in opposition to the priestly Sadducees. Their philosophical and theological descendants are the Hasidim of today. |
