NASB | Mark 3:12 And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 3:12 Jesus sternly warned them [again and again] not to tell who He was. |
Bible Question: I was just wondering why on many occasions Jesus told people not to tell others about the miracles and healings he had performed for them? Wouldn't Jesus want to spread the word about Christianity and let all know who he is? |
Bible Answer: Matt 4:23-24 He went about all Galilee teaching and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people and his fame spread and they brought to Him all sick and He healed them. 5:2-and He opened His mouth, and taught them. Jesus used every opportunity He had to teach who He was and how His Father was different from the false gods they had been worshiping. Miracles were a part of His ministry but even in present time we can see that miracles dont build faith. Jesus knew the hearts of the people and what they would tell about what happened to them. Also, there were times when obedience was a part of what happened as in when He told the lepers to go show themselves to the preist and as they went they were healed but only 1 came back and gave thanks and praise. Luke 17:12-16. So we see all of them received their healing but only 1 received Jesus. |
