Bible Question: For since the apostolic times, miracles such as what Jesus and the apostles have performed have not occurred as frequently or not at all. I personally have not seen someone with the gift of healing or the ability to foretell the future or prophecy. Although there are fakes such as Benny Hinn that try to win people over to exploit them into giving money. Ok my point is not to argue over the Benny Hinn and Copelands or whoever but a real person with a real gift of healing. Do you believe that these gifts have faded away? Or are those with the real gifts today. As I Cor 14 alludes to and James 1:25 states that the perfect law of liberty that shows the divine power of God. God's word is what we have today to the testimony of Jesus Christ. Is the Bible that perfect law of liberty that has replaced those gifts of the 1st century? |
Bible Answer: 'Does God still perform miracles? 'Why doesn't God still perform miracles like He did in the Bible? ____________________ "A faith based on miracles is not a mature faith." ____________________ 'When God performed amazing and powerful miracles for the Israelites, did that cause them to obey Him? No, the Israelites constantly disobeyed and rebelled against God even though they saw all the miracles. The same people who saw God part the Red Sea later doubted whether God was able to conquer the inhabitants of the Promised Land. I invite you to read the parable in Luke 16:19-31. In the story, a man in hell asks Abraham to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers. Abraham informed the man, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:31). 'Jesus performed countless miracles, yet the vast majority of people did not believe in Him. If God performed miracles today like He did in the past, the same result would occur. People would be amazed and would believe in God for a short time. That faith would be shallow and would disappear the moment something unexpected or frightening occurred. A faith based on miracles is not a mature faith. God performed the greatest miracle of all time in coming to earth in the Man Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins (Rom 5:8), so that we could be saved (John 3:16). 'GOD DOES STILL PERFORM MIRACLES - MANY OF THEM SIMPLY GO UNNOTICED OR ARE DENIED. HOWEVER, we do not need more miracles. What we need is to believe in the miracle of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.' ____________________ www.gotquestions.org/ miracles-Bible.html |
