Bible Question:
Hi, I would like to know if baptism is just a symbol and if you don't get baptized will you still go to hell for believing truly that Jesus died for our sins? |
Bible Answer: ForBaptism is a symbol. It is symbolic of what takes place spiritually when one becomes "born again" that is to say when you acknowledge Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. No you will no go to hell for not having experience the ritual of Baptism. To do so would make God a liar, because he said whosoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. He also said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. It is a wonderful experience however, and given the opportunity by all means do so. Ceremonies and rituals do have a significant place in the life of a believer they help deepen the understanding of God and our relationship to him. God Bless you. It might help to do a word study on baptism and to read of the experiences of others. Both in the bible and personal tesimonies of believers today. Elder Teresa Young bigsistertigert@aol.com |
