AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 15:42 ¶ When evening had already come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, [Deut 21:22, 23; Matt 27:57-61; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42] |
Bible Question: I would like to learn more details re: "the Day of Preparation." |
Bible Answer: My understanding of the Day of Preparation is that this is a symbollic day. When the Israelites were wandering in the desert, they were instructed to collect enough manna on the 6th day to last them the 7th, which was the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day is a day of rest. As believers, our rest is in Christ (Matt. 11:28,29). As far as a "Day of Preparation" for us, every day is Day of Preparation, as we need to be constantly ready for the Lord's return. Please do not be confused - if we die as believers before the Rapture, then the day we die is the day we are with Him. Therefore, we should all remember 1 John 1:9 and keep ourselves blameless and holy in His sight (Eph. 1:4) Short answer to this question, is that the Day of Prearation referred to in Mark 15 was a ceremonial day for the Israelites. As a WHOLE (individual Israelites have become Believers) Israelites have always clung to the ritualistic traditions of their forefathers. Our application of this concept as Believers is one of an individual relationship with Jesus and our readiness to be with Him. |
