Bible Question: In Mark 14v38, what temptation could the disciples enter into? |
Bible Answer: I believe in this verse Christ is speaking to Peter although He refers to him in his old name, Simon, instead of Peter (Mark 14:37). Christ is encouraging Peter to draw close to God by praying and being watchful (v38). By doing this Peter would hopeful succeed over his temptation to deny Christ in the passages to come. The temptation here then encompasses quite a lot such as the temptation to meet ones physical needs (sleep) before/in spite of ones spiritual needs, however, I think the main temptation Christ is talking about is that of Peter's denial. |
