Bible Question: Can anyone tell me anything about the Olivet Discourse from Matthew 13:5? I have the NIV study Bible and it says that the main purpose of the Olivet Discourse was to alert the disciples to the dangers of deception. I find nothing about what it was. Please help me if you can. Thanks. |
Bible Answer: Ms. Kathy, I presume you mean to ak about Mark 13:5, which is in the Olivet discourse, rather than Matthew 13. Mark 13 warns of false Messiahs claiming to be Christ. It also warns about the cost of discipleship in persecution. The Great Tribulation is also prophecied. It is interesting to note that all the Gospels except John's have a section of Apocalyptic prophecies. John uses a whole book, Revelation, to cover that territoy. Mark uses chapter 13, Matthew 25,and Luke 21. I hope this is of some help. Emmaus |
