AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 12:36 "David himself said [when inspired] by the Holy Spirit, 'THE LORD (the Father) SAID TO MY LORD (the Son, the Messiah), "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES UNDER YOUR FEET."' [Ps 110:1] |
Subject: Being in the Spirit? |
Bible Note: Hi Tim, It will be good to talk with you again, for I see now that I have not answered one of your notes. You wrote here "I believe David's words were "breathed by God"--the Holy Spirit itself spoke and David was just the instrument by which the words were coveyed to us." By your saying "the Holy Spirit itself" you are coming close to what I am thinking. I believe that the Holy Spirit is not only a Person, but is also a message, words, a spirit of influence, a wind if you will. John 3:8, "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Is it possible that when we speak the word of God it is the "spirit that is given without measure"? John 3:34, "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the spirit without measure." Or, John 6:63, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." I suggest to you that the holy spirit could be equated with the word of God. Just as the Holy Spirit is the Word. David's 95th Psalm were words of holy spirit given to him by God. Psalm 95:7, "Today, if you would hear His voice..." Or, "Today, O that you would obey His voice..." You mentioned Hebrews 4. We hear the word of God and obey and don't harden our hearts. Hebrews 4:7, "He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through [Or, in] David after so long a time just as has been said before, "Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." I think that the promise of the Father is not only the Spirit of truth, but also the gift of the holy spirit, the word of God. See Acts 2:4 I hope that some of my thoughts are clear and you can go further. From the heart, Ray |
