Bible Question: What are God's "things?" Please answer with Scriptural references. |
Bible Answer: Hi Mommapbs, Some time in the past on the forum I wrote about the things of God, especially in regards to Philippians. But you know, I just looked at my concordance and I see that there are over eight columns of Scripture references for the word "things". All things considered, it makes for a great study. 1 Cor 7:34, "...things of the (Lord)..8:4 ...there is no God/ but one. 1 Cor 2:12, "...things freely given us by (God). Ephesians 4:10, "...that (He) might fill all things. John 4:25, "...(He) will declare all things to us. 1) I have appreciated your conversation with New Creature. We indeed do need to know the sanctity of life, recognizing that every person is created in the image of God. 1 Cor 3:16, "Do you not know that you are temple of (God)...?" Colossians 1:28, "...that we may present every man complete in (Christ)." 2) We do have to be more concerned about spiritual things, and more aware of how what we think are personal decisions are really things of the Spirit. 1 Cor 6:19, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from (God), and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body. [and in your *spirit, which are of God]." Romans 8:10, "But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to (Him). 11 And if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the *spirit is alive because of righteousness." 3) When we compare ourselves with God and when in your verse of Mark 12 Caesar is compared with God, we know that God is great and we are as nothing. And yet we are all made in His likeness. Genesis 1:26, "Then (God) said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;..." Mark 12:15, NKJ, "Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?" But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why do you test (Me?) Bring Me a denarius that I may see it." 16 So they brought it. And He said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?"..." Matthew 22:17, "Tell us therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to give a poll-tax to Caesar, or not? 18 But Jesus perceived their malice, and said, "Why are you testing (Me), you hypocrites?" 19 Show Me the coin used for the poll-tax." And they brought Him a denarius. 20 And He said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" No, there is no comparison between what God has created, and who He is, and the image of a Roman god and his money. From the heart, Ray |
