Bible Question: In Matthew 21:18 it says that when Jesus told the fig tree it would never bear fruit again it happend it withered immediately. In Mark 11:12 when Jesus tells the fig tree it will never bear fruit they do not notice it untill there way back |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Mat 21:10-22, Mar 11:11-26 ... 1way, greetings, One answer for the difference is that some passages are topically (Matthew) arranged rather than chronological (Mark). It Matthew it said it happened at once. In Mark it says they were listening when He cursed the fig tree ... it doesn't say it withered (or not), tho there is a delay in saying it withered. When Mark records it, the tree already had been withered and may have had a greater effect. Searcher |
