Bible Question:
Mark 10:9 What therfore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. I want to know what it means. I figure that when two people are put together by God no man can separate it,but if you go look and put yourself with your mate it won't work. |
Bible Answer: Hello nae-nae, To answer your direct question: When two people are married, they enter into a covenant relationship that is sanctioned by God, and they become one flesh. In this way, God has joined them together. Because of the hardness of men's hearts, God has allowed divorce. This is man putting asunder. It's that simple. People today are looking for a soul mate--that one special person God has planned for him/her This is NOT found in Scripture. This is just a romantic thought conjured up by the poets of the day so we feel extra special about our mates. The truth of the matter is there are many you could love, marry, and be very happy with. The Scriptural injunction is for husbands to love their wives and wives to submit to husbands (Eph. 5). Proper obedience to God's precepts is what makes a marriage work. The idea that we search high and low for God's perfect mate for us is not in the Bible. Steve |
