Bible Question: What is meant by two becoming one flesh? |
Bible Answer: Just what it says. Two people become one flesh. I explain it this way you have a sheet of red paper and a sheet of blue you cover both sheets of paper with glue and stick them together. That is being married, they become one. You can still see the blue sheet and the red sheet but they are glued together and can't be separated. If you cut the red you cut the blue. If the blue is made into a glorious art form so is the red. If you burn the red you also burn the blue. If you cover the blue sheet with filth so is the red sheet. Whatever you do to one is done to the other. They are together as one. Now people often try to divorce but like the paper you can't cleanly do it, both sheet will get torn, some of blue will stick to the red and some of the red with stick to the blue. Both become damaged, rips, missing pieces, lumps, old glue. Not a pretty sight. Now people will try to fix this by remarrying but if you take the old torn up red sheet and try to glue it to a green sheet you will end up with a mess. While the green sheet did look good it will now have the red with its lumps, missing pieces, stuck on blue and old glue hanging off it. It will make the whole thing nasty. Never like the the red and blue sheet that were once glued together. |
