Bible Question: Should a christian aspire to be very rich in view of Jesus statement that it is easier for a camel to pass through the needles eye than it is for a rich man. She we not just pray for our needs to met continually and may be a little left to help others |
Bible Answer: I wish I had better documentation - but I know that I have heard various explanations to this verse. First, I have heard that the word that is used in the original text here (trumalia - sorry, I don't have greek font here) generally is translated incorrectly. I have heard that it should be translated "gate" or "door". I have also heard that the word, or expression, "eye of a needle" was one that they used to describe the only gate that was open in a fortified city at night - all the other gates would be closed except for a door that was generally used for humans, not camels. Now imagine trying to get your camel to crawl through a small door. Would it be impossible - no, but it would be more difficult than getting your yorkie through. I'm sure you'll get more ellaboration on this - it's a start. |
