Bible Question:
What did Jesus mean in these two strange, seemingly almost callous quotes? Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die |
Bible Answer: I'm not sure what you asking you talk about Matthew but then include two verses of Genesis which seemingly have no connection. In Matthew 8:22 Jesus is rebuking a scribe that thinks he wants to follow Jesus but also is still concerned about this life. Jesus is saying if you're really sold out enough to follow me you won't concern yourself of things of this world. EdB |
