Bible Question: What does 'meaningless repetition' refer to? Does this mean not to pray for the same thing over and over again? |
Bible Answer: One I was at Bible School, during chapel everyone bagan to pray in tongues, like they did every morning. I began to get a bad feeling about it and the Spirit gently said to me "They have taken my gift and turned it into a Hindu Mantra" and then this very scritpture jumped into my mind. I am very carefull now to not speak in tongues or english, in such a way that my head and heart are disengaged or not really focused on God. It could also mean that people were praying in such a way as to be seen as spiritual or it could mean that without any heart behind the words, you are really just chanting. |
