Bible Question:  My ten-year old son died in an accident in 1999. I believe his life was planned by God and that although God did not "cause" him to die, his days were numbered before one of them came to be.Are there Scriptures (in addition to Psalm 139:16) that support my belief that a person's life, including how long he/she spends here on earth, is planned in advance by God?

Bible Answer:  Matthew 6:27 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Jer. 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

Jer. 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Having watched many children die from cancer, I can assure you that none of these little ones died in vain. God has used their brief life for His glory. There are no accidents, yet there are consequences. None are out of God's sight or control! Our future is Heaven - sometimes we get homesick - and you have an even greater reason!

Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

After reading this verse, my son, while undergoing chemo at age 14, stated,"God has a plan for my life."

When I asked him how he knew that he replied, "Because I'm still here; if your work for God is done, you should be happy to go home to Heaven!"

(This was 7 years ago; he was miraculously healed! God does indeed have a purpose for his life, for mine and for yours - why? Because WE are still here!)Blessings to you and yours!
