Matthew 6:26 "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? |
Bible Question:
Are humans really more important than birds? Birds have been cared for but a huge number of people continue to be dying of hunger in this world. Why Jesus promised to take care of humans and then ended up allowing people to die without food? Thank you, Finder |
Bible Answer: Hello Finder, Part of the answer can be found in holding to a biblical worldview. In answer you your question, "Are humans really more important than birds?", Yes, they are. The last half of Matt. 6:25, says "Are you not worth much more than they?" The implied answer is yes. We are God's creation, made in His image, and the contex of Matt. 6 makes it clear the God cares for us- His creation. The relational nature of God can be seen in Matt. 1:23, "...AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US." The other part of the stems from our sinful nature! We live in a fallen world, subject to the shortcomings of God's intended glory! Jesus did not change His mind. He Himself is the answer. Note John 4:14, "...but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." (NASB) The problem- sad as it may be- is not people dying of hunger, but rather them dying without Christ! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
