AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 6:16 ¶ "And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they put on a sad and dismal face [like actors, discoloring their faces with ashes or dirt] so that their fasting may be seen by men. Subject: When fasting can I drink coffee? |
Bible Note: Hi, bway... While the answers you have gotten on the question of coffee and fasting are, if nothing else, quaint and curious. Nevertheless, do not allow men to bind your conscience with things that are not in the Bible (see Colossians 2:16-17 and 1 Timothy 4:1-4). Instead, let the Lord speak to you through the Word as He has directed (Hebrews 1:1-2). After all it is in the keeping of our Lord's commands conveyed through the Bible that we demonstrate our love (John 14:21), rather than through the traditions and commands of men (Matthew 15:9; Titus 1:4). The Scripture does not prescribe what precisely constitutes a fast for the believer. However, it does say that whether we eat or drink it should be done to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Of course, the Bible does not mention coffee. Consequently, an answer from Scripture to your question is not possible one way or another. In Him, Doc |
