Bible Question: Looking at the "sheep and goats" scene in Matthew 25:31-46. Are the human actions here examples of "mercy," or something else (like compassion)? Is this judgement scene an illustration of "Blessed are the merciful... ?" |
Bible Answer: Hello JRM, I've often heard the definition of mercy is the withholding of judgment that is due. So in Matt 25, it would rightfully be called compassion. Steve |
