Bible Question: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HUNGER AND THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS IN MATTHEW 5:6? |
Bible Answer: Hello ONLYTEE Let's start with the word "righteousness." In Biblical use, it has to do with a covenant relationship. The Law, for instance, was given to show how to maintain a relationship with God. All these things had to be done because God is holy. To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to crave the proper covenant relationship with God. It also carries with it the idea that you won't just crave but will actively work at it. Steve |
