Bible Question: Can a man lust after his wife? If so, is it sin? |
Bible Answer: Can a man commit adultery with his own wife? I just want to say this ... to "lust" after something is actually making that thing into a god, putting it before the One God in our lives. A man must be careful of that in his desire. Also, the Word says of husband and wife each to consider that in making commitment to each other, they also commit to providing for their partners sexual satisfaction. Each unto the other. This is a good thing that God established. Let me point out from the Word something that is often missed by men. In 1 Cor 7:2 We read, "Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. (and 4) The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time ..... " Reading carefully the words here, we see that once again, it is Love which the Lord promotes. Love does not demand. Now, if a husband is practicing Godly love toward his wife, he, in considering her body his own, must be willing to accept his wife's "no" in love and respect in addition to rejoicing at her "yes" Again, Lust demands. Godly love does not demand. Men, be loving and kind and gentle with your wives, assigning them honor as the weaker vessel. |
