Bible Question: I've heard that we don't follow the 10 Commandments anymore, instead we follow a "Moral Law". If we don't follow God's Morals than whose morals do we follow? |
Bible Answer: It seems that there are some people that want to say that we do not need the 10 Commandments anymore, that Christ did away with them. This is not so. As you read this passage from Matthew, Christ is saying that He did not come to take away the Law or prophets, but fulfill them. When Christ also responds to the Pharisees question in Matt 22:34-40, "Which is the greatest Commandment?" The Lord responds, "Love the Lord your God with all your Heart, mind, and soul." That is the greatest Commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Everything in the Law and the Prophets hang on these two Commandments."(NEB) But we see here that Christ is just summarizing what the 10 commandments are telling us. The 1st four Commands are for the Love of God, and the last six are for your neighbor. They are still in effect today. Mick Eph 2:8-9 |
