Bible Note: Yes teragram123, It is true that satan could not offer the kingdoms of the world if he did not control them. This authority was given to satan by Adam when he chose to obey satan instead of God. "captivity captive" I found in Eph 4:8 and here is what Matthew Henry's Commentary (published posthumously, circa 1720) says for our edification: "Captivity is here put for captives, and signifies all our spiritual enemies, who brought us into captivity before. He conquered those who had conquered us; such as sin, the devil, and death. Indeed, he triumphed over these on the cross; but the triumph was completed at his ascension, when he became Lord over all, and had the keys of death and hades put into his hands." However it is my belief that satan is still the prince of this world, and will be until the second coming. Peace, Tim |
