AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 3:11 ¶ "As for me, I baptize you with water because of [your] repentance [that is, because you are willing to change your inner self--your old way of thinking, regret your sin and live a changed life], but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment). [Luke 3:16] |
Bible Question: If someone is baptized in the catholic church and later becomes "Saved", should he then be baptized again in a new church? |
Bible Answer: Friend, Baptism does not make you a Christian; you are baptized because you are a Christian. It is an act of obedience to the Lord, Jesus. It is an outward sign of an inward work. If you do not let the inward work happen, the outward sign is in vain. Paul teaches us to crucify our flesh. We are to die to our fleshly, carnal wants and to live after the spirit. If you do not crucify your flesh, but rather continue to live after the flesh, your baptism is in vain. Your faith in Christ caused your spirit to be re-born. You will need to feed your new spirit and kill the flesh so you will not fall into temptation. Then sin, then death. Grace then Peace, Jcdm327 |
