AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud [agonized] voice, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" [Ps 22:1] |
Bible Question:
Radioman2, Do you interpret Jesus' question of "why have you forsaken me" to mean that He was being abandoned by God? I have read other members of this forum state that they believe Jesus was calling attention to Psalm 22 as a last-ditch attempt to reach the on-lookers and teach them what was happening. What do you think? Thanks, reilly |
Bible Answer: It burns me to see anyone saying that he was just fulfilling what Psalm 22 stated. It takes away from the Cross in a big way. First it takes away from the suffering Jesus' endured. No one had ever suffered as much as Jesus did on the Cross. Jesus who has NEVER been seperated from the father for the first time in History and even before there was a history He was seperated from the Father. He never knew Sin he felt what Sin actually was at that moment in time. The pain it caused our precious savior. And the pain the father must have gone through forsaking His only begotten Son. one second of that feeling is more pain than we can ever imagine. For people that think the He was only fulfilling 22:1 should take a good hard look at what Jesus did on the cross for you. It went through more pain than our minds can even think off. And the Love of Jesus the Christ saying because He loves us so much "Forgive them for they no not what they do." What greater Love is there than that. AMEN! |
