Bible Question:
My mother found out a few months ago that she has cancer, for a second time. Right before her surgery she accepted the Lord. For the last two months she has been VERY sick, and the cancer is growing very fast. The doctors are just hoping the Chemo. will help. My Question is this. I fully trust God, and know that no matter what, she is in His hands. But I am unsure on what the bible says about healing. I know God heals, and Jesus healed thousands. But should I expect God to heal her, or just pray God does, not really knowing (I feel I am not believing Him when I ask if...) I'm confused. She is a baby Christian, I don't what to say God will heal her, if He doesn't, but I know He can. Any clarification would be great. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Forgivenfollower! Jesus is God... He did not need to pray to the Father, but just like His water baptism (Matthew 3:13-17), Jesus did everything to teach us: to bring us closer to the Father! He commanded us to pray always... but He also cautioned us that we are to be consistent in our prayer (Luke 18:1-14) Sometimes we get confused though... there is so much in the Bible that we might forget or subconsciously push aside... True Jesus said that all that we ask for we will receive (Matthew 21:22). But what we ask we must ask, in faith, remembering to yield to God's Will (Matthew 6:10). Asking God for something, even if we are asking daily, does not constitute disbelief!: ...your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So you should pray... (Matthew 6:8-9) I purposefully omitted part of the above verses in order to emphasize that Jesus called us to pray and to ask the Father for the things that we need even though the Father is way ahead of us and knows exactly what we need before we ask Him. (This of course could be interpreted as the Father granting us the things that we need not the things that we think we need!) One more thought about petitions to God: not everything that we ask for will we receive and just because our prayers/petitions are not granted does not mean that we are being shunned by God or that we are not spiritual enough to have God's ear: About this, I have three times pleaded with the Lord that it might leave me; but he has answered me, 'My grace is enough for you: for power is at full stretch in weakness.' It is, then, about my weaknesses that I am happiest of all to boast, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me; (Romans 12:8-9) Through our infirmities God (our Faith in God as well as God's revelation) is made trong. God Bless! Angel |
