Bible Question: What is the difference between atonement and remission of sin. |
Bible Answer: The English Word "Atonement" is derived from the Expression "at one" and, as applied Biblically, means a covering of sins. Remission Is defined as A release from the guilt or penalty of sins. To refrain from exacting or inflicting the penalty of sin. To restore or consign to a former condition. As this relates Biblically, we as imperfect humans needed to have sins remitted or forgiven in order to be reconciled to God.Scripture references are found at Romans 3:23 and Romans 5:12 as for Atonement see Leviticus 4:20. |
