Bible Question: It is my understanding that there were no punctuation marks used in the original manuscripts. Is there some way that we know that Judas is asking a question here? |
Bible Answer: Here is how it reads in my interlinear. First line Greek next word for word translation apokritheis de Ioudas ho paradidous auton eipen Meti ego eimi rhabbi legei auto Su eipas HAVING ANSWERED, AND, JUDAS, THE ONE, BETRAYING, HIM, SAID, SURELY NOT, I, AM [THE ONE], RABBI, HE SAYS, TO HIM, YOU, HAVE SAID [IT]. This is where the art of translation comes in knowing where to put ? marks and how to make the sentence read correctly to us. I did have to remove the dash above the e in Meti and above the o in ego and auto. Can't remember what they are called |
