AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 26:17 ¶ Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread (Passover Week) the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?" [Mark 14:12-16; Luke 22:7-13] |
Bible Question:
How can preachers preach that Jesus deid on friday and rose on sunday thats not three days and three nights |
Bible Answer: My study comes back to this every year, and by Easter Sunday, I still have not settled the question in my mind, so I decide to start working on it earlier next year. As Elder has observed, from Friday just prior to sunset when Jesus' body was placed in the Earth by Joseph of Arimathia until Sunday morning, when the women found the empty tomb, is just not three days and three nights. I accept that the scriptures are right, and I also accept that the people of the day could count. I would like to know how Jesus' own prophesy of being in the earth for three days and three nights was fulfilled. I would like to understand the whole holy week, beginning with the feast of Passover, and then Unleavened Bread. So why, on the first day of Unleavened Bread did the disciples come to Jesus and ask, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?" (Matt 26:17) when Passover (Lev 23:5) comes first, followed by Unleavened Bread? Asking, John |
