Bible Question: The references from the scriptures are fine. But I still don't know why there is so much poverty. You wrote that Jesus said the poor you will have always be me (meaning Him) you won't. So are you telling me that they will always be famines, starvation, etc? |
Bible Answer: if you would look at Matt. 26:9-11 then you might understand a little better. it seems that at this time when the women annointed him, Jesus with the expensive oiontment, one of the deciples complained that it could have been sold and distrubbed to the poor. they were complaining because she did this, but she did it as a memorial to Our Lord and Savoir. these were events leading to his death. Even if they had sold the ointment for much the poor probably would not have received a penny, this was just and excuse for the woman not to use the oil. they had selfish reasons for saying this and Jesus knew this. So I feel that this is why Jesus made the statement "the poor you have with you always". My God ever bless and keep you in his care. |
