Bible Question (short): where will those of us who are saved go

Question (full): Jesus said that he goes to prepare a place for us. That where he is there we will be also...this is my question, where will we be during the 1000 year reign of Christ on earth. I have heard some say we will be able to go from heaven to earth at will. I would really like to hear thoughts on this
