Bible Question: I'm sorry again. All of these scriptures are nice. So are you telling me that if I don't visit people in jail I'm in danger of hell fire? |
Bible Answer: If you believe in your heart and have confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and that God raised Him from the grave, you are saved (Romans 10:9). If He is the Lord of your heart you will have compassion for the poor, the prisoners, those who are without. If you act on this compassion it will be as if you are doing it for Jesus. If in your heart you truly do not want to hear Him say Matt. 7:21 through Matt. 7:23 (NIV) 21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU. AWAY FROM ME, YOU EVILDOERS!’(CAPS are mine for emphisis) We must establish a relationship with Jesus. A personal relationship. Talk to Him. Read about Him. And most of all do what He says to our heart. If our citizenship is in heaven that is where we must go when we are no longer citizens of the earth. Phil. 3:20 through Phil. 3:21 (NIV) 20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Colossians 1:4-6 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints—the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. How can we receive it if we do not go there to get it. He will one day return and all that is in heaven for us who are here on that day will receive what He has promised. This is our hope. The fact that you are concerned shows your heart is right towards our Savior. Go after Him, talk to Him, Love Him with all your heart and He will give you peace. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). |
