Bible Question:
I'm still confused about this. I don't see any scriptures that tell me that Satan has never been to hell. Since he was the ruler of hell, and the lord of it, why wouldn't he be free to travel there too? After all, he goes to heaven to accuse us there. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Ginger! The point that you are missing is that the Devil is NOT the lord or ruler of Hell. Hell is a place of punishment to which the Devil will be sent in the last days. Consider these Scriptures: 1) Mt. 25:41 - "‘‘Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." 2) Rev. 20:10 - "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." If you do a word search for 'Devil' or 'Satan', you will discover that there is not one Scripture that ever says he is the ruler of Hell. I hope this helps! p.s. - He doesn't wear red tights, or have a pitchfork, or have the power to make deals for souls either. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
