Matt. 24:7 is 1 of 3 NT Gospel references that speak to the end times and the Tribulation.

Matt 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes." (NASB)

It essentially means exactly what it says! In context, the disciples had inquired of Christ as to what would be the sign of His return and the end of the age (24:3). He expounds on the signs in 24:4ff. However, also note 24:8-

"But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs" (NASB)

While recent occurences- such as the massive devastation in Haiti- speak that the Lord's return is near, we don't know, nor should we speculate as to exact days:-)
